First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic global professional services firm that defines, designs and manages projects across 6 sectors: property, energy, water, transport, resources and government. They are looking to recruit a building and fire safety consultant on a permanent basis due to growth.

Purpose of role:

To undertake a wide range of building safety case surveys and reports for high rise residential buildings (HRRB) in accordance with the Building Safety Act 2022. This includes working with our
residential clients and will require regional and UK wide travel as appropriate. Responsible for conducting detailed building surveys, review of documentation and compiling detailed building safety case reports.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • In the process of developing a Building Safety Case and Report, building specific documents and records, where available, to be reviewed to ascertain the level of information relating to the building.
  • Review of client’s documentation of their existing Safety Management System and identify if suitable to support a building safety case.
  • Review of building’s current control measures.
  • Preparation of gap analysis reports and subsequent development of health and safety and fire safety management systems.
  • Preparation of building safety case reports in accordance with government guidance and requirements.
  • Client engagement offering constructive feedback.
  • Carry out compartmentation and fire door surveys.
  • Carry out Types 1-4 fire risk assessments.
  • Development of retrospective fire strategy reports for clients.
  • To be able to provide robust health, safety and fire safety advice to clients.
  • Keep up to date with current legislation and advise clients on compliance requirements.
  • Identify and provide solutions to health, safety and fire related problems.
  • Maintain own professional CPD on a regular basis.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Achieve personal utilisation target.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Strong background in health & safety management systems, and fire safety for residential properties.
  • Carried out fire risk assessments for complex HHRBs.
  • NEEBOSH Fire Diploma / Certificate.%u25aa Grad IOSH or equivalent or working towards.
  • Member of IFSM or IFE.
  • Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
  • Registered on a recognised Fire Consultants’ Register.
  • A thorough understanding of health & safety and fire and knowledge.
  • Building regulations Approved Document B, British Standards and health and safety, and fire relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of CDM requirements.
