Role: Multiskilled Engineer
Working Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday based on Double Day shift – 6am-2pm/2pm-6pm

First Military Recruitment are working with a worldwide organisation, leading the way in print industry, looking for a Multiskilled Engineer to join the business, and continuously improve their every expanding teams.

Within this role you will maintain efficiency in all areas of the factory.  This includes reactive and planned maintenance with industrial manufacturing machinery. You will also be involved in projects and continuous improvements to site.

This is a role that Mechanically minded engineers are key, with a solid understanding of Electrical maintenance partnered with it, so its split around 60% Mechanical and 40% Electrical.
 

Your duties as a Multiskilled Engineer:

  • Reactive Maintenance on automated production machinery
  • Pre-planned Maintenance (PPM) – Input to and carry out preventive maintenance routines
  • Mechanical fault finding
  • Electrical fault finding with and without diagrams (three phase and control systems)
  • Fault finding and repair on hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Contributing to cost effective technical solutions
  • Be part of a weekend call-out rota
  • Maintain and increased machine efficiencies re: OEE
  • Unplanned Downtime Reduction
  • Route Cause Analysis
  • Component Failure Analysis and MTBF used for predictive and preventative planning.

Ideal experience for the successful Multiskilled Engineer

  • A relevant recognised engineering qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering to a level of City and Guilds level 3/ NVQ level 3
  • Experience working in a small team and must have an aptitude for dealing with mechanical/electrical works, breakdowns, repairs and fault diagnosis
  • Strong mechanical skills to repair machinery to keep downtime to a minimum
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skill in particular on PLC’s, drives and inverters
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams
  • Pneumatic skills and experience
  • Knowledge of HV/LV Switchgear and electrical drives
  • Understanding of PLC’s, their function and program modification/fault finding (Elec)

Desirable skills:

  • Apprentice trained to ONC/HNC level or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • 18th Edition qualified
  • Hydraulic knowledge would be advantageous
  • Strong Continuous Improvement Experience
  • Print background preferred, but not essential
