AR620 – Workshop Controller

Location: Cirencester

Salary: £28,000 – £31,000 + Overtime

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Workshop Controller on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day efficient running of the service operations including planning and managing workshop resource requirements, reporting directly to the Service Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule daily workshop activities ensuring that key targets are achieved whilst monitoring work in progress.
  • Proactively planning and identifying parts required for workshop repairs and liaising with the Parts Department for availability.
  • Ensure we meet the high standards our customers expect, by managing and mentoring workshop staff to deliver industry leading customer service.
  • Offer technical support to customers and engineers to ensure timely repairs.
  • Communicate with manufacturers to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Ensure that the workshop team works closely with Sales and Aftersales to deliver excellent customer service. 
  • Carry out final checks to ensure repair jobs have been completed correctly to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain professional environment ensuring that work areas and protective clothing are clean and tidy to uphold a professional business standard.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Experience in mechanics/diagnostics of vehicles or machinery is essential, preferably from working for a main dealer or manufacturer.
  • Ability to diagnose and advise on problems over the phone or using remote diagnostics.
  • Understanding of modern vehicle engine emission systems and CanBus systems would be an advantage, as would hydraulic and hydrostatic systems diagnostics.
  • Ability to work effectively and motivate a team.
  • Willingness to work harvest hours and out of season hours as required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines. 
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Possess a problem solving nature with an eye for accuracy and detail.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good understanding of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
