JR260: Machine Operative
Location: Reading
Salary: £12 per hour + Progression
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Machine Operative on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and set up shear and punch presses efficiently.
- Ensure all manufactured parts meet company quality standards and product specifications.
- Maintain optimal press uptime and minimize scrap.
- Follow company procedures regarding product checking and quality control.
- Run machines to achieve cycle times as specified on route cards.
- Assist the Setter/Team Leader in improving machine efficiencies, changeover times, and tooling setups.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce safety risks.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines.
- Assist with machine maintenance as required.
- Support the transportation of goods, stock checks, and general housekeeping within the manufacturing unit.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Good engineering or mechanical background.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience using measuring tools such as Verniers and micrometers.
- Self-motivated, able to multitask, and work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to share technical information.
- Counterbalance forklift truck license.
- First Aid certification.
- Basic PC skills.
