RT31 - Lecturer in English (GCSE & Functional Skills)
Salary: £32,455 - £45,260 Per annum

Overview
First Military Recruitment are seeking a full time Lecturer on behalf of a renowned client, to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English within their cross-college provision, primarily to vocational learners aged 16-18.
This is a challenging and rewarding area of the College. You would play a key role in supporting vocational learners with their development and to help them progress onto higher courses or the workplace. You would join a team of skilled teachers with a wealth of experience and knowledge, who are pro-active in sharing best practice with the team in order to engage with and enthuse resit learners. Duties & Responsibilities
- Full time - 36 Hours per week.
- Teach on a range of programmes in the relevant subject area, including GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
- Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
- Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
- Assess students’ progress regularly including the timely marking of work and giving feedback, both written and oral.
- Work towards the integration of students’ basic skills’ development in the delivery of teaching and learning.
- Promote Equal Opportunities and implement the College’s Equality and Diversity Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
- Provide a secure, safe and friendly learning environment including implementation of College’s Health & Safety Policy.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in English or related subject (or minimum of Level 3 qualification plus proven successful experience of teaching GCSE English for at least 2 years).
- Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE)**, or willing to obtain this, supported by the College.
- Experience of teaching or tutoring GCSE and/or Functional Skills English.
- The ability to engage and enthuse vocational learners aged 16-18.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour of students effectively and engage reluctant learners.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- High standard of literacy.
- Good teaching practice.
- Understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Safeguarding.
- Awareness of and sensitivity towards the different learning needs of students.
